Transition Program for Children with Disabilities

Transition Programs give students with disabilities access to career and technical education designed for students who require curriculum modifications and other supplemental services not generally available in regular secondary career and technical education programs. These programs are eligible for salary, equipment and materials, travel and contract reimbursements similar to special education.

For many districts these programs provide opportunities for learners with disabilities to take part in supervised community employment, but the transition-disabled program also supports specialized vocational assessment and the activities of appropriately licensed specialists who identify and provide necessary accommodations so that learners with disabilities can fully benefit from participation in career and technical education programs.
