Roseville – The Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) is seeking public comment on the first draft revision of the Minnesota K-12 Academic Standards in Science from September 12 through September 26, 2008.

The science standards define what students should know and be able to do in a particular grade and are developed in partnership with Minnesota educators.

Statewide town meetings will give the public the chance to discuss the draft revision with members of the revision committee and department representatives.

All meetings are scheduled from 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., in the following locations:

9-15-08 Fergus Falls (Lakes Country Service Cooperative)
9-16-08 Bemidji (Bemidji High School)
9-22-08 Rochester (Century High School)
9-23-08 Duluth (Old Historic Central High School)
9-24-08 Marshall (Marshall Middle School)
9-25-08 Roseville (Minnesota Department of Education)

The Science Standards page of the MDE Website offers a complete list of town meeting information, the draft science standards revision document, a link to the online feedback form, and a downloadable copy of the mail-in feedback form.
