The Governor has released his plan for how to spend the surplus
The Governor released his budget this week and although the education items it funds are laudable, there is disappointment among education stakeholders. Expenditures are allotted for 15 initiatives, many focused upon early education, equity and teacher development. What it funds to the tune of zero dollars is the per pupil formula. This is surprising in a surplus year and an election year and the source of much of the disappointment. When this happens, we often see cuts and shifts. Read more in MinnPost.
