The legislative auditor’s report suggested a major overhaul to teacher licensure in Minnesota. Their recommendation, which garnered support from MDE and the Board of Teaching this week, was to created a tiered system of licensure. However, the report did not assess two critical aspects of licensure: basic schools tests and licensure categories. Mistilina Sato, Associate Professor of Teacher Development at the University of Minnesota, highlighted these further licensure dilemmas in a letter to the Star Tribune this week.
