Author Diane Ravitch is an education historian, research professor of education at New York University and a leading voice in the national debate over corporate-style education “reform.” Ravitch first rose to prominence in conservative policy circles and served in the U.S. Department of Education in the George H.W. Bush administration. She later abandoned her support of the No Child Left Behind law and has since become an outspoken critic of test- based accountability, charter school expansion, vouchers and other efforts to impose a business model on public schools. Ravitch has written 10 books, including “The Death and Life of the Great American School System,” and numerous articles. Her online writing includes her blog at dianeravitch.net.
