After twelve years with the Stillwater schools, Christina moved to Pequot Lakes where her two children attend elementary and middle school. Christina is active in Pequot Lakes as a substitute teacher and volunteer. She currently serves as President of the Pequot Lakes School PTA. As a classroom volunteer, she teaches reading and creative writing skills, and offers Ojibwe Culture presentations. Christina ran for the Pequot Lakes school board in 2004. She is currently on the interim school board at Pine Grove Leadership Academy, a charter school opening fall 2007 on the Mille Lacs Reservation, District III-the Aazhoomog Village, located east of Hinckley. Christina is deeply committed to advocating for children and teaching parents how to be involved in their child’s education. At home, Christina enjoys spending time with her family snowshoeing, snowmobiling and log rolling in the summer. “Our public schools are our greatest community resource. Every child deserves an education that will give them the skills and qualifications they need to create their own opportunities.” —Christina Woods | |||||||||||||||||||||||
