What has happened with our state budget over the last 10 years?
The Lost Decade Katherine Blauvelt Minnesota Budget Project
Katherine Blauvelt has been a policy analyst at the Minnesota Budget Project since 2007, where she writes analyses on both federal and state tax and budget issues. She has a strong background in both community organizing and policy research. Before joining MCN, Katherine worked for the Service Employees International Union, Grassroots Solutions and Ready 4 K. Katherine earned a Masters in Public Policy at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, where she co-authored an article on federal tax reform, and her B.A. from Oberlin College. |

Kitchen Table Budget Principles Jermaine Toney Organizing Apprenticeship Project
Jermaine Toney is the lead researcher with Organizing Apprenticeship Project. He is a graduate of Patrick Henry High School. Toney received his B.A. from the University of St. Thomas and M.S. from New School for Social Research in NYC. He has authored the Minnesota Legislative Report Cards on Racial Equity, Weighing the Racial & Economic Equity Impacts of Mpls Schools Referendum, and Kitchen Table Principles for Minnesota’s State Budget. He has presented at Applied Research Center’s “2008 Facing Race: A National Conference” in Oakland and PolicyLink’s “Regional Equity 2008: National Conference” in New Orleans. |

Smart Investments in Minnesota Students Angie Eilers Growth and Justice
Dr. Eilers has been engaged as an educational researcher/evaluator, professor, and advocate of educational policy issues since 1989. Her area of expertise is in reform, implementation and evaluation of educational issues, especially as they intersect with issues of urban and rural poverty. Many of Angie's publications address the social institutions and policies designed to promote educational advancement for socially disadvantaged students. In her most recent work with Stanford University, Angie was part of a multi-institutional team of researchers studying district-wide reform. She holds a Ph.D. and M.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a bachelor's degree in Political Science from Lawrence University. |
