Michelle Howard (Roseville)

Dear Governor Pawlenty,

I am the parent of 3 active boys who attend Roseville Area Schools, ages 13, 13 and 7.  Like most parents, I keep very busy.  I work full-time and have a full range of parenting responsibilities including helping my kids with homework, monitoring their progress in school, running them to various activities, preparing meals, housework, etc.  These are all big responsibilities, my responsibilities, and I take them seriously.

I also volunteer my time at my children’s school on a regular basis and contribute financially to the school through various fundraising efforts, some of which I help coordinate.  These things are also big responsibilities, my responsibilities and I take them seriously.

Last year I lead the Vote Yes Committee for Roseville Area Schools.  Along with many, many other busy parents, I spent hundreds of hours working on the Vote Yes campaign.  My family spent much of it’s free time working on this campaign; it will always be remembered as the “Vote Yes Summer” by my children.  To our relief, the levy passed, my children’s quality education is secure—at least for now.

I am writing you today to tell you that parents have enough responsibilities.  Securing funding for their school district is not something they should have to take on.  It is your responsibility, Governor Pawlenty, to ensure our schools receive adequate funding; it is a big responsibility, YOUR responsibility, please take it seriously.

Sincerely,

Michelle Howard
