The former structure of two committees, one for policy and one for funding, has been collapsed into one Senate E-12 Education Budget and Policy Division chaired by Senator LeRoy Stumpf.
Jurisdiction includes: All bills relating to children (including laws relating to child abuse victim services), education, libraries, and Department of Education.
The Senate Education Committee meets daily
Monday through Friday
8:30 a.m. - 11 a.m. in Room 112 of the State Capitol.
Strictly policy bills will go to the house floor. Bills with fiscal notes will be referred to the Senate Finance Committee, then on to the Senate Tax Committee. These committees play a significant role after the release of the February Forecast.
