The Minnesota State Legislature consists of two bodies: the Minnesota State Senate and the Minnesota House of Representatives. The leadership of each body is determined by the political party that holds the most seats.

For 2009, the Democrats hold the majority leadership in both the Senate and the House.

Majority "Whip?"

“Whip” is a British term for the person who keeps the hounds from leaving the pack during a fox hunt. Whips play an important role in helping leadership to educate colleagues about key issues and upcoming votes. They are also responsible for keeping track of members and making sure they are present to vote on crucial issues.
