Every Child Matters

Parents United and the Minnesota Children's Platform Coaliton have teamed up with the Every Child Matters in Minnesota (ECM MN) campaign to make children, youth and families a political priority throughout the summer and the 2008 election season.

Volunteer are needed to help raise awareness about children's needs at local festivals and community events throughout the summer. Volunteers with  special skills that attract children (face painting, making balloon animals) are especially needed.  Support will be provided for activities such as:

  • "T-shirt rallies" (children's advocates in ECM t-shirts, raising awareness about children's issues at political events, and asking candidates for office how they intend to address those issues).

  • Information booths at local events.

  • Advocacy trainings for child-care workers and parents at child care service centers.

  • Get Out the Vote efforts.

Information about Every Child Matters in Minnesota will be distributed through Parents United updates and the iCAN's Wednesdays4Kids e-alerts (iCAN is Every Child Matters' 2008 Minnesota host), and other Minnesota Children's Platform Coaliton partners.
