Kim began her school advocacy journey like many parents do, as a site council member of her children’s elementary school.  Her concerns about school funding quickly brought her to the state level where she became involved in the 2003 Save Our Schools campaign, which later evolved into Parents United.

She is a member of the Parents United Legislative Committee and serves on the board of Juxtaposition Arts and as an Advisory Board Member of LearningWorks at Blake School. She and her husband raised four children in the Minneapolis Public Schools, with the oldest two having graduated.

Kim enjoys spending time with her family, reading, traveling and playing and watching football together. She especially enjoys attending musicals with her daughter.

“Supporting our children's education is one of the most important jobs we have as parents.  It's important to be an effective advocate at all levels: in the classroom, the school, the district, and with the state.  Decisions at all levels impact how well our children do.”
