Consolidation Transition Revenue

Districts that consolidate are eligible for state aid of $200 per pupil unit in the first year of the consolidation and $100 per pupil unit in the second year. The number of pupil units used to calculate this aid may not exceed 1,500.

This funding is intended to cover early retirement costs of employees, operating debt of the districts, enhancing learning opportunities and for other costs of reorganization. If this aid is not adequate to cover the early retirement costs, the district may levy for the additional amount.
