I'm from District 191 Burnsville-Savage-Eagan schools, where we caulk financial gaps with fundraising efforts, dollars saved by faculty and staff reductions, and most promising, an upcoming levy.

The levy certainly has neighbors talking, and the needs of our schools are better known, but all the "what-if-this-doesn't-pass" talk has me frightened. How ugly to further burden our families with this cost, but I'll gladly pay my share because I want my daughter and all the district sons and daughters to benefit. Despite being a sizable and equitable venture, the levy is too easily put aside by those who no longer have children within our schools. It is like saying caulk is cheap and often a long-term fix, but we can't keep gunning our caulk and withstand the harsh conditions indefinitely. You might be relieved when the levy passes, thus no longer seeing the need to slide additional state dollars our way, but frankly, whether the levy passes or fails shouldn't be a factor. Please join us in our aim to strengthen our schools.

I'm a parent volunteer, and a Realtor who wants to tell prospective buyers that the quality of education in our district remains strong despite overcrowded classrooms and continued cuts to staff and faculty. Please include me among constituents who request greater financial assistance from the State of Minnesota. Thank you for reading my thoughts and concerns; your efforts are far-reaching and sincerely appreciated.
