Dan Berg

Dan is a Minneapolis Public Schools parent. His ties to parent involvement in public education go back over 40 years to when his dad was president of his elementary PTA. "That was when I learned how important and valuable it was to have a parent involved."

Dan and his wife took school choice seriously, looking at 11 different schools when their oldest daughter was getting to be of school age.  "We fell in love the public schools in Minneapolis."

Like most parents, Dan first got involved in the classroom.  That led to the site-based leadership team and, on the district level, the Minneapolis Citizens Budget Advisory Committee.

The Berg family is committed to learning through travel.  "We don't have a cabin or a boat, so we travel.  We've been to Costa Rica, China, Norway, Italy, Russia, Peru and Ecuador."  It's what Dan enjoys doing most with his family.

"Teachers are on the front lines, day in and day out, building a foundation of hope for the next generation.  We should not squander any opportunity to support and value their work."
