12/31/2009 12:00 AMMille Lacs County Times Milaca schools' levy is down. The tax levy for 2010 in the Milaca School District will drop by .68 percent, the exact levy decrease enacted by the Mille Lacs County Board earlier this month. Business Manager Todd Netzke’s recommendation for a levy of $1.968 million, compared to $1.981 million in 2009, was approved. The decrease of $13,499 in the levy was fueled by lesser expenditures in the area of health and safety, debt service, and a facilities and equipment bond. Those decreases were offset by a new debt service amount of $377,775 for post employment benefits, Netzke said. The general fund levy of $699,404 was 27 percent lower than in 2010. The total of all fund balances in the district at the end of the 2008-09 fiscal year was $5.763 million. The projected fund balance for June 30, 2010, when this fiscal year ends is $6.219 million, an increase of about 8 percent. Netzke told board members that he feels good about this fiscal year so far. About 31 percent of the budget has been expended through Nov. 30, compared to 33 percent in both of the previous fiscal years by that time. The total budget for the district in the 2009-10 fiscal year is $14.994 million. Projected revenue is $15.385 million, only 19 percent of which had been received by Nov. 30, compared to 27 percent in each of the two previous years. http://millelacscountytimes.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=2770 | |||||||||||||||||||||
