A comprehensive resource for Minnesotans who are interested in federal stimulus grant funds is now available from Minnesota Management & Budget (MMB).

The guide has an overview of all the funding streams and the state agency charged with administering each program. The overview provides the dollar amount, program and grant title, whether it is a formula or competitive driven program, and a reference for detailed information with state agency contact person. The document will be continually updated as new information becomes available from the federal government. An RSS feed has been added so those interested can subscribe for update alerts.

The guide is available on a section of MMB’s website dedicated to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act at www.mmb.state.mn.us/recovery.

“Our goal is a transparent process allowing citizens to understand how and where these federal dollars are being used,” said the State of Minnesota’s federal stimulus coordinator, Commissioner of Minnesota Management & Budget Tom Hanson. “This guide will provide citizens the most up to date information on the federal funds and how to access them.”

Funds have already been provided to support education and health care services and to spur new transportation projects.  In time, Minnesotans will be able to apply for grants in areas such as green jobs, broadband, and health information technology. The web site will be a tool in providing Minnesotans information on applying for those opportunities.

“The state is committed to maximizing the economic benefits of the federal stimulus package by quickly identifying and investing in quality projects that are ready to go,” said Commissioner Hanson. “We want to get the money into the economy as quickly as possible in order to create jobs and revitalize the economy.”
