12/2/2008

Offered at two convenient times - morning and afternoon

Sitting on the board of directors for a nonprofit organization can be a rewarding endeavor. In addition to helping provide and locate resources to achieve important ends, board service is one way to give back to your community and help keep the social fabric strong.

Whether you are interested in serving on a "working board" or a policy-making board, you are invited to come and learn (almost) everything you need to know about being a nonprofit member at this interactive workshop!

This workshop is designed for people who would like to serve on a nonprofit board, those that are currently serving, and nonprofit staff who work with their nonprofit's board of directors. You'll explore and learn about topics such as:

  • Debunking common nonprofit myths
  • Differences and similarities between nonprofits and for-profit businesses
  • Top 10 red flags to keep your eye on as a board member
  • Rules of the game and how to play fair
