February 9, 2006 - House GOP Caucus Unveils 2006 Legislative Agenda

House Speaker Steve Sviggum presented the House Republican agenda for the 2006 session.

Among the proposals:

—Property Tax Relief that ensures homeowners get refunds

—Marriage Penalty Tax Relief to ensure couples don't pay additional taxes just because they are married

—Education reform, including the adoption of Governor Pawlenty's proposal to require at least 70 percent of school funding is directed to classroom expenditures

—Eminent Domain legislation to limiting local government use of eminent domain to ensure cities and counties cannot take property for economic development.

—Address rising concerns surrounding illegal immigration, including banning sanctuary laws that prohibit law enforcement officials from asking questions about immigration status. (Sources: T.W.
