Sample Recruitment E-mail

Hello All!

I volunteered to recruit parents to attend legislative committee meetings at the Capitol for the week of April 4. This means I now need volunteers to go to one or more meetings!  This is a great way to see the legislature at work and is an initiative of Parents United Network (http://www.parentsunitednetwork.org/Presence.html) to get public school parents from all over the state at the meetings.

Our attendance can have a significant impact on the legislators who are there: when they see a different group of public school parents at nearly every meeting, it has real influence on their votes.

So here are the times we're hoping to get parents there (the meetings generally last 2-3 hours):

Tuesday, 8:15 am, House Ed Policy & Reform
Tuesday, 12:30 pm, House Ed Finance
Wednesday, 9 am, Senate K-12 Budget
Wednesday, 12:30 pm, House Ed Finance
Thursday, 8:15 am, House Ed Policy & Reform

There are three additional meetings, but the 3pm time makes it more difficult for parents; let me know if you'd like to attend one of these:

Tues., 3 pm, Sen. Ed. Pol.
Thursday, 3 pm, Sen. Ed Pol.
Thurs., 3 pm, Sen. Early Childhood Policy

I will plan to attend all or most of the meetings (except the 3 pm meetings), since this was my idea, and I enjoy doing it. Just e-mail me to let me know which meeting(s) you're interested in attending (you don't have to stay for the whole thing -- just work it the best you can into your schedule).

Thanks much!
